Senior Men • Senior Women • Wheelchair Mixed (Fours) • Wheelchair Mixed Doubles
The National Competitions Committee for Curling Australia (CA) is seeking team nominations for Senior Men, Senior Women, Wheelchair Mixed (Fours), and Wheelchair Mixed Doubles events being held in Naseby, NZ commencing on Monday 5 August 2024 and finishing on Sunday 11 August 2024.
The final dates and competition duration will be determined by the number of teams entered and will be released to the team contact of the nominated team by 15 June 2024 as well as posted on this website. It is recommended that teams do not make travel arrangements until this communication is received.
The National Head Coach, Perry Marshall, will organise the draw schedule in collaboration with the Nationals Committee. A competition draw schedule for each discipline will be released to the nominated team representative at the beginning of July 2024. The draw for each discipline will be dependent on the number of teams nominating.
The nomination process and competition outcomes will follow the CA Eligibility and Selection document Version 2.0 and all players and coaches must be current paid members of a State Association to compete (by competition in August). A copy of the Eligibility and Selection document may be found here or under the Policies and Documents section of the Resources tab at the top of this page.
COMPETITION RULES
The competition will follow the current World Curling (WC) Rules for Curling July 2023 (or most current) unless otherwise stated in the CA Team Meeting Document or confirmed at the Team Meeting prior to the start of competition. The WC rules can be found here.
It is expected that teams will have an upper garment that is matching and distinct for the team in which they are playing. Matching upper garments builds the profile of each team and helps the officials and spectators identify players on each team. In order to ensure teams have unique team garments it will be required that teams submit uniform photos to the National Competitions Committee two weeks prior to the start of the competition.
INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATION
Upon completion of the Nationals competition, and provided the teams meet the CA selection criteria and the World Curling (WC) criteria:
- The winning team in the Wheelchair Mixed Fours will represent Australia at the World Wheelchair B Curling Championships (WWhBCC) tentatively scheduled 2-9 November 2024 in Lohja, Finland.
- The winning Wheelchair Mixed Doubles team will represent Australia at the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships (WWhMDCC) (Location and dates unconfirmed – typically in March).
- The winning Seniors teams will represent Australia at the 2025 World Seniors Curling Championships (WSCC) (Location and dates unconfirmed – typically in April).
